Wanda Tuerlinckx

Overview

Wanda Tuerlinckx is a Belgian portrait and documentary photographer based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In 1992 Tuerlinckx has made portraits of a divers group of elderly people in the Amsterdam neighbourhood 'de Jordaan'. This series has been acquired by the Stadsarchief Amsterdam. Tuerlinckx became known at the end of the 1990s with her portraits of the Ajax soccer players. In 2003 she made a series of portraits of veiled women in the Netherlands that has been acquired by the 'Rijksmuseum' in Amsterdam.

Since 2015 Tuerlinckx is making portraits of Humanoids and Androids, a daunting adventure that she embarked with Prof. Erwin R. Boer, professor of Cognitive Robotics at Delft University of Technology. Together they travelled the world, mostly to Japan, to document the current robot revolution. Works from the series 'Androids' were shown at the Dutch photography festival Noorderlicht in 2007 and in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam in 2018 as part of the exhibition 'Anima Mundi'.
