According to Daido Moriyama, today it seems that photographers taking casual street snaps like he has always done have become extremely rare. Perhaps it has something to do with social conventions and regulations, or matters of portrait rights and encroachment of privacy. But photography itself has also changed with the times, he observes. Frankly, all he wants to do is capture in as many photographs as possible in the time that he’s been given and the era that he’s been placed in. And yet, the various regulations regarding current media keep him from publishing anything and everything he wants, he is forced to self-regulate, and in the end that means he’s not free.
