Yoko Mazuki
Yoko Mazuki (1963) was born in Aichi Prefecture and now lives and works in Tokyo. Mazuki's work explores the sensory and intangible aspects of human experience—time, presence, smell, and tactile memory—often expressed through the body and natural forms. In her work Mazuki incorporates human figures and plant-like forms (‘innerplants’), capturing the interplay of the organic and human presence. Her visual language focuses on what lies beyond the visible—sensations, hidden traces, time, and memory felt through the body rather than seen by the eye. Mazuki aims to communicate a form of visual expression that transcends words, using photography as a direct sensory language between viewer and subject. In recent years Mazuki has explored classic printing techniques, such as collotype printing, integrating traditional processes with contemporary expression.
