David Favrod
Favrod was born in Kobe, Japan, from a Japanese mother and a Swiss father. This mixed heritage has become a recurring theme in Favrod's work. He combines photography with a wide range of imaging techniques inspired by the Japanese traditions of manga and animé such as collage, typography, as well as drawing, to create a pictorial whole. Favrod creates a new visual structure, transcending the limitations of photography and creating new possibilities for narration. At UNSEEN 2019 Favrod exhibited works from his brand new project 'The sound of the black waves', in which he is pushing the boundaries of his practices even more by f.e. using onomatopoeias in the stories he wants to tell.
