The annual report "Japan Photo Almanac 1970",  published by the Photographic Society of Japan. This volume summarizes the trends in the photography world in 1969 and includes many images of works.

The photo books listed as data include Shomei Tomatsu's "Okinawa Okinawa OKINAWA" and "Oh Shinjuku," Takashi Hamaguchi's "University Struggle 70 Years Towards the Security Treaty," Yasuhiro Ishimoto's "Chicago, Chicago," Ikko Narahara's "Spain: The Great Afternoon," and Eikoh Hosoe's "Kamaitachi."

This was also the year that Tomatsu, Ishimoto, and Hosoe produced masterpieces from works that were politically charged and symbolic of the era.

The "Colour Photography Masterpieces" section includes works by Kishin Shinoyama, Yoshihiro Tachiki and Shunji Okura, as well as an introduction to Kimura Ihei, who has just turned 70, and the "Black and White Masterpieces" section features photographs by Noriaki Yokosuka, Tetsuya Ichimura and Kenji Ishiguro.

Many of the works included are reprints from photography magazines, but this was an era when photography magazines were in full swing, and at the same time there was a movement for magazines such as PROVOKE, making this an annual report from an important period in the history of Japanese photography, making it a valuable document.
